Nutrition
The Community Action and Resource Development Nutrition Project is a separate organization, with separate funding, from the WACA, but is located within the WCAC facility. The Nutrition Project is a Senior Citizens Meal and Social Services program. They help senior citizens keep their independence for as long as it is safe for them to be in their homes.
Are you wanting to make new friends, join in new activities, or just need to get out of the house? Then look no further, the Washington County CARD Senior Nutrition site is a great place to enjoy a variety of group activities such as bingo, cards, dominoes, and exercises, while enjoying a nutritious lunch.
They offer a variety of activities and entertainment as well as health screenings, medication management, and nutrition education. Site Manager Brooke Moody is here to assist you in finding needed resources in your area and to assist in coordinating group activities.
For those seniors with dietary concerns or special needs, our registered dietician is available at each center one time monthly to answer your questions.
Outreach Representatives are available to provide referrals to assist with other unmet needs you may have.
Senior Nutrition is available to any person over the age of 60. Meal donations are encouraged but not required.
In-house lunch meal for WCAC members is only $2, or $4 for non-members and guests. Lunch is served beginning at 11:30 am. Of course, donations are always accepted to help provide meals for others. You must sign up each day for a meal the following day. Home delivered meals are available, but you may be put on a waiting list until meals are available.
If you would like to contribute to the senior meal program, you can do so at the sign-in table in the WCAC dining hall; or by sending a check made payable to: CARD Senior Nutrition Project to CARD, 301 E. Angus, Dewey, OK 74029. Your generous contribution will assist us in purchasing food, preparing meals and delivering them to home-bound local seniors. Many thanks for your financial support to our program.
Monthly Menus can be found in the WCAC office.
